So my house was broken into yesterday morning.

Here's the story.

I start to stir awake around 5:30, it is light outside.
I hear a gigantic smashing of glass which i am convinced came from the unit below me.
I'm in a complex of four.
I turn off my fan to get a better sound of what the hell is going on.
I sit back on my bed again. I lay down.
Suddenly, my bedroom door opens.
There's some fucking thug just standing there lookin at me and before I can finish saying "hey! get out of here, man..." (actual words i think)
...he has swung the door closed and is gone.

Meanwhile, I am stunned/feeling an ill coming on.

I'm shocked and don't know what the hell is happening nor can i fathom what's about to happen.
I'm thinking it's a robbery. Then I'm thinking more people are coming. I open the door and walk outside with my mini-amp in hand, ready to attempt to clobber this guy.
He's gone out the door he smashed the window to open.

Nothing's moved or gone...my car keys and wallet were on the counter next to the door...
so....I was thinking this was some pervert(or worse) who got unlucky when he saw it was just me there...
I call the police, they come.
Later the forensics guy came to fingerprint the place and only just today, the window was replaced.
I'm pretty well convinced this guy was looking for someone who owed him something.

About three weeks ago,
I 'accidentally' found a document here that must have belonged to a previous tenant. This woman owed something like thirty-five grand to someone.
I didn't think anything of it, never thought that could lead to anything. It's about the best reason I can think of for the 'random' break-in.

Does this happen?
Has this happened to you or anyone you know?? The police told me it's not a common thing and I'd really just thought it was. They got the wrong guy/gal is the most likely reason is what i was told so It kind of backs up the debt thing.

joined me last night for the guarding of the open window while attempting to get sleep. We camped in the middle of the loungeroom (which was actually really really cool, shoulod do it more often) and jumped at the sound of every click/clack/thud.

I realise how bad something like that could have been. So I was real lucky, I know that. I felt pretty sick for a while, about someone invading my space like that, (that and I'd gotten about three hours sleep) Also felt like I needed to move out but it faded as the day went on.

Feels over now so good.
